Water Intake

Proper water intake is very important in order to avoid dehydration and maintain proper human body function. We often get the question "How much water should I drink per day?".

Here is a formula that is more personalized according to an individuals body size and activity level. Keep in mind, a DRY MOUTH is a good indication that you may not be consuming enough water!

Active Individuals

  • 2/3 ounces of water per pound of body weight.
  • *Example: If you weigh 150lbs, your calculation would be as follows:
  • 150 x 0.67 = 100.5 ounces of water daily Add 16oz to your daily intake in dry climates.

Non-Active Individuals

  • 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight.
  • *Example: If you weigh 150lbs, your calculations would be as follows:
  • 150 x 0.50 = 75 ounces of water daily.

Add 16oz to your daily intake in dry climates.
Add 16oz to your daily intake if you are involved in strenuous exercise.
Add 8oz to your daily intake for every 8oz of a carbonated or caffeinated beverage.
